Privacy Policy

Scinovus Crafted, the developer of the Rickroller Discord bot ("the Bot"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Bot collects, how that information is used, and how it is safeguarded when you use the Bot.

1. Information We Collect

The Bot collects only the following:

• Discord user IDs and vote streaks. When you use the /vote command, or vote for the Bot on Top.gg, your numeric Discord user ID is stored along with your vote streak count and the timestamps of your votes. This is what allows the Bot to show your voting streak.
• Links you submit, and the fact that you submitted them. When you use /addlink to add a YouTube link to the Bot's blocked list, that link is stored together with your numeric Discord user ID so that submissions can be reviewed. A notification containing the link and your username is also sent to the developer by direct message for review.
• Message content, read as messages arrive. So that the Bot can do its job, it checks messages in channels it can see for two things: the YouTube links on its blocked list, and a short fixed list of rickroll trigger phrases. When a message contains a blocked link, the Bot deletes that message and posts a notice naming the author. When a message contains a trigger phrase, the Bot posts a short reply that removes itself after a few seconds. Messages are checked in memory as they arrive and are then discarded. Message content is never saved, logged, or stored anywhere, and messages that match neither list are ignored entirely.

The Bot does not store any message content, and does not collect your presence or online status, your activity, or any list of the members of the servers it is in. When the Bot plays audio in a voice channel, it only sends audio; it does not listen to, record, or process anything spoken in that channel.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information described above is used only to:

• Detect and remove blocked rickroll links, and reply to trigger phrases.
• Maintain the blocked link list and let the developer review submissions.
• Track and display your Top.gg voting streak.

Your data is not used for advertising or profiling, and is not used to train machine learning or AI models.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

The data described above is stored outside of Discord, in a MongoDB database. The Bot itself runs on Heroku. Vote information is retrieved from Top.gg, which has its own privacy policy covering your use of that site. No message content is sent to, or stored by, any of these services.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties except for the hosting and voting services described above, which are required for the Bot to function, or where disclosure is required by law.

5. Your Choices and Data Deletion

Because the Bot's main purpose is to spot rickroll links as they are posted, it checks messages in the channels it can see. If you do not want your messages checked, you can remove the Bot's access to a channel through Discord's channel permissions, or remove the Bot from the server. Server administrators control which channels the Bot can see. Submitting a link with /addlink and using /vote are both entirely optional.

You may request that your stored user ID, vote streak data, and any link submissions attributed to you be deleted at any time in the Rickroller support server. Because no message content is retained, there is nothing of that kind to delete.

6. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect stored information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet can be guaranteed as completely secure.

7. Children's Privacy

The Bot is not directed to anyone below the minimum age required to use Discord in their country, and we do not knowingly collect information from such users.

8. Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, and your continued use of the Bot after those changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
